Privacy Policy and Terms
ParquetReader is built for privacy-conscious file inspection, querying, and conversion. This Privacy Policy explains how uploaded files, metadata, API keys, integrations, and related information are handled. It also includes key terms that apply to your use of ParquetReader.
Privacy Policy ParquetReader.com
Effective Date: June 2, 2026
This privacy policy governs the collection, use, and disclosure of information collected through ParquetReader.com. ParquetReader.com offers tools to view, query, convert, export, save, and automate supported data files, including Parquet, CSV, JSON, JSONL, Excel, Avro, ORC, Feather, GeoJSON, NetCDF, Arrow/IPC, and other supported formats. This policy explains what data may be collected, how it is used, how it is protected, and what users remain responsible for when using the service.
Operator and contact
If you have privacy, security, or terms-related questions, contact us through the contact page.
File handling
For basic browser workflows, uploaded files are processed to complete your request and are stored temporarily for operational processing. Temporary files are deleted after processing or during routine operational cleanup.
Saved or persistent files and related metadata are retained while needed for saved files, API access, automation, integrations, subscription access, security, abuse prevention, legal obligations, disputes, or until deleted or expired where applicable.
We do not sell uploaded files. We may use trusted infrastructure, payment, monitoring, security, and operational service providers where needed to operate and protect ParquetReader.
User responsibility for uploaded data
You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights, permissions, lawful basis, and authority to upload, process, query, store, share, export, or otherwise use any data through ParquetReader. You must not upload personal data, confidential business data, regulated data, third-party data, or sensitive data unless you are legally authorized to do so and have implemented appropriate safeguards on your side.
Logging
For performance monitoring, troubleshooting, security, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention, we may log limited operational metadata such as request timestamps, IP addresses, user agent information, API key or subscription identifiers, file type, file size, error reports, and usage events.
Operational logs are not intended to include file contents. Logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for operation, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and abuse prevention.
Subscriptions and API keys
If you purchase paid access, payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store credit card details. API keys may be linked to your email address, Stripe customer or subscription identifiers, subscription status, usage state, and related operational metadata needed to provide paid access. API keys are used to authenticate your requests and manage access to paid features.
You are responsible for keeping your API keys, credentials, connected accounts, and integration settings confidential and correctly configured. Exposed API keys, shared credentials, or misconfigured integrations may allow others to access or use your account, uploaded files, saved files, or API usage.
Client-side storage
ParquetReader may use browser-based storage such as localStorage and sessionStorage to remember API keys, usage counters, file access tokens, preferences, and temporary session state. This helps provide no-login access, prevent duplicate counting during a session, and unlock paid features.
You can clear this data through your browser settings, but doing so may remove stored API keys, access state, usage counters, or saved preferences from your browser.
SQL queries
When you run SQL queries on uploaded files, the query text, file data, and query results are processed as needed to provide previews, exports, API responses, saved workflows, or integration results. Unless a feature explicitly saves files, queries, or outputs for later use, query processing is intended to be temporary.
Information sharing
We do not sell your personal information or uploaded files. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate ParquetReader, including hosting, storage, security, analytics, monitoring, customer support, and payment processing providers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect ParquetReader and its users, to prevent abuse, to enforce our policies, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any information collected through our website from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
ParquetReader is designed to process files securely and applies reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect uploaded data. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Legal basis
For visitors from the EU/EEA, we may process personal data under one or more legal bases, including performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating, improving, securing, and protecting the service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where consent is required.
For data contained in files uploaded by users, the user is responsible for ensuring that there is a valid lawful basis and that use of ParquetReader complies with applicable privacy, data protection, employment, contractual, sector-specific, and confidentiality requirements.
Data processing and DPA
Business users processing personal data through ParquetReader may need a Data Processing Agreement. Contact us through the contact page before using saved files, API access, or integrations for regulated or personal-data workflows.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or request portability of personal data we process about you.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise privacy rights, contact us through the contact page.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ParquetReader is not liable for data breaches, unauthorized access, loss of data, or damages resulting from files uploaded by users, user-side security issues, exposed API keys, misconfigured integrations, or use of the service in violation of this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Service below.
This limitation does not exclude liability where such exclusion is not permitted by law.
Terms of Service
By using ParquetReader, you agree to these Terms of Service. ParquetReader provides tools to open, inspect, query, convert, export, save, and automate supported data file workflows. You may use the service only in compliance with applicable laws, contracts, third-party rights, security requirements, and these Terms.
User responsibility
You are responsible for the legality, accuracy, confidentiality, integrity, retention, backup, export, deletion, and use of your uploaded files, saved files, query results, API requests, and integration outputs. You should only upload files if you have the right and lawful basis to process that data.
If you upload or process data without the required rights, permissions, lawful basis, or authority, you are responsible for any resulting claims, damages, regulatory issues, third-party disputes, or legal consequences, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
API keys and integrations
You are responsible for keeping API keys, credentials, connected accounts, and integration settings secure. Do not publish, embed, share, or expose API keys where unauthorized parties can access them. You are responsible for activity performed using your API keys or connected integrations, including automated workflows, third-party tools, exposed secrets, misconfigured access, or unauthorized use caused by your systems or configuration.
Paid access
ParquetReader may offer subscriptions, day passes, API access, or other paid features. Payments are handled by Stripe. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through the Stripe Billing Portal where available. Access to paid features depends on valid payment, subscription, day-pass, and API key status. Payments are not guaranteed to be refundable unless required by applicable law or stated otherwise at checkout.
Acceptable use
You must not use ParquetReader to violate laws or third-party rights, upload data you are not allowed to process, attempt unauthorized access, bypass limits, probe or disrupt the service, distribute malware, overload infrastructure, scrape the service in abusive ways, or use the service in a way that creates security, privacy, legal, or operational risk.
Security and availability
ParquetReader applies reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect uploaded data and keep the service reliable. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security, uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or permanent availability of any file, result, endpoint, or feature. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups and copies of important files, outputs, API results, workflows, and integration data.
Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ParquetReader is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, security, accuracy, or error-free operation.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ParquetReader shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or business-related damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of business, or unauthorized access resulting from user-uploaded content, exposed API keys, third-party integrations, or misuse of the service.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
Indemnity and termination
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold ParquetReader harmless from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your uploaded files, your API keys, your integrations, your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law or third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate access to ParquetReader if we reasonably believe your use creates legal, security, privacy, payment, abuse, operational, or service integrity risk, or if you violate these Terms.
